Star Tribune reported that after Amy Klobuchar announced to run for 2020 presidential election, a question is raised: why was there no Minnesotan president? But, they found that Minnesota is not only a state where hasn't make a successful presidential run in history.

According to Barbara Perry, the director of presidential studies at the University of Virginia’s Miller Center, east coast states are more likely to produce presidents because of the location while Minnesota is far from the Union, Star Tribune reported.

Also, Hamline University political science professor David Schultz said that Minnesotan politicians tend to be not as partisan as other politicians who would get more extreme fans. He points out people want a president who has a more colorful position on a certain topic so that it can encourage more voters, according to Star Tribune.
