NPR reported Thursday physicians in public health said they see patterns of economic and racial bias since the outbreak of coronavirus.

According to Rubix Life Sciences, African Americans, who have symptoms like cough and fever, are less likely to get coronavirus tests, NPR reported.

ProPublica reported 35 percent of confirmed cases and 40 percent of death in Michigan are African Americans as of Friday.

NPR reported the virus can cause greater harm in minor communities, where they have more risk factors than others if they fail to distribute testing equipment, gloves and masks equally.

Dr. Georges Benjamin of the American Public Health Association said they are pushing health officials to monitor race and income in the response to the pandemic, according to NPR.
