“The word for today is high. H. I. G. H. Have fun with it.”
It is called the “Writers’ Circle.” About 15 people are gathering at the East Lake Library every Saturday morning. This meeting is open to everyone as long as you have a pen, pencil, paper, and the desire to write.
“Meetup is a website. It is a place where if you are an organizer, you can
start a group that is interests of yours. I was interested in creative writing, so I started a creative writing group.”
“The idea is you are able to connect with people online through this website
who have the same interest as you, and then, if you are brave enough, you go to the group and meet with people and hang out. That’s worked out pretty well with my group ”
There are lots of concerns about how online technology affects face-to-face
communication and interpersonal interactions, but Kelly thinks differently.
“When we have a group that’s really cohesive, for whatever reasons, there’s magic
in the room, just the general sense, people are really, they are really on like they are really into the writing and very creative and very supportive of each other”
“As we use the online format as a way of scheduling and exchanging
information, but then we also have knowledge of each other through one another’s writing, through going out for coffee, it’s helpful because you get full of experience of who the person is. I really loved it. I love the group. ”
By sharing their desires of writing, ideas, and values with each other, they feel
a sense of belonging to society even more. |
