CNN reported Wednesday after studying hundreds of patients at US Veterans who took hydroxychloroquine, which was followed by Trump as a treatment for coronavirus, had a higher risk of death.

The study, funded by the National Institutes of Health and the University of Virginia, was posted on medrxiv.org Tuesday, according to CNN.

CNN reported, in the study of 368 patients, 97 patients took hydroxychloroquine and 27.8% of them died while 11.4% of 158 patients who did not take the drug died.

The New York Times reported Wednesday Laura Ingraham, a host of Fox News, told her nearly four million nightly viewers that “nearly all the experts that I’ve talked to, and the studies I’ve read, review this information, the evidence, and at this point, it’s come across as pretty much of a game changer.”

The US Food and Drug Administration(FDA) hasn't approved any products to prevent or treat coronavirus, but there is research underway on many drugs, CNN reported.
