Global coronavirus death toll hits 100,000, cases over 1.6 million

Reuters reported Saturday the worldwide death toll from COVID-19 passed 100,000 as of Friday.

The fatality rate of the virus is about 6 percent, but experts point out the actual rate is lower because asymptomatic cases are not included in the total, according to Reuters.

The West Australian reported the U.S has over 18,000 dead, the second-highest in the world behind Italy's.

According to Reuters, while the old population has severely affected, there is an increasing number of cases along with young people in the global death toll.

The number of death doesn't include deaths reported in homes or nursing homes, Reuters reported.
