Germany Has Relatively Few Deaths From Coronavirus. Why?

By Jane Lee

For this week's analysis, I chose the article, "Germany Has Relatively Few Deaths From Coronavirus. Why?" by Anna Sauerbrey for the New York Times.

During the lecture, we have learned about how to use data such as numbers or percents for the story properly.

In the article, the author uses a numeral number to report how many cases Germany has as of Saturday and a percent to show the fatality rate.

Since the article focuses on the relatively few deaths in Germany, I think it is appropriate to use the percent of the fatality rate because it can grab attention among readers to continue reading and make them wonder why the rate is relatively low.
